According to the Farmers Almanac, the dog days of summer and the most oppressive heat of the season are behind us. On one such oppressive day last month, we visited the Spring Green Dog Park with our pup, Cosmo, who romped through the tall grasses and sniffed every square inch of the paths. Watching him frolic in the fresh August air, it was possible to appreciate the warmth of the hot summer sun while simultaneously pining to be refrigerated soon enough by the car’s air conditioning.
That same day, we visited the Spring Green Post Office and turned in the keys to the mailbox we’ve rented for nearly a decade. For years we have published Voice from our home in Mineral Point, and we work hard each month to connect and culturally unify the cities, towns, villages and unincorporated areas that span both sides of Military Ridge in the Lower Wisconsin and Sugar-Pecatonica River Basins. Our new mailing address is P.O. Box 150, Mineral Point, WI 53565.
This month’s stunning issue features the voices of Leslie Damaso, Mary Friedel-Hunt, Doris Green, John Heasley, Jennifer Moore-Kerr and Kathy Steffen and the photography of Arabella Quinn. We’re grateful to each of them and to the volunteers who make distribution of the magazine possible: Joni and Rick Graves, Mark McCauley, Brian Richter and Nick Schweitzer.
