We’re not out of the woods just yet, but the pages of this month’s magazine are brimming with meaningful musings on the inevitable: Spring is coming to our nook of the Driftless Area.
One sure sign as we transition toward the Vernal Equinox is the fresh batch of limericks contributed by Voice of the River Valley readers. Sincere thanks to Michael Brandt, Gary Jones, Pat Larson, Gaila Olsen, Sharon Rowe, Nancy Schmalz and Marie Sersch for sharing their wit with us!
In addition to five pages of calendar listings detailing the events in our region — including the March 7 opening of James Faecke’s exhibit at Wantoot Gallery in Mineral Point (see image) — this month’s magazine features the voices of Mary Friedel-Hunt, Doris Green, John Heasley, Jennifer Moore-Kerr, Dr. John Peterson, Kathy Steffen and Etienne White; and photography by Ron Lutz II. We’re also pleased to share a feature about the publication of the Viroqua-based Driftless Writing Center’s new anthology, “Contours: A Literary Landscape.” Congratulations to all the writers and artists selected for publication. We’re proud to say you’ll recognize quite a few of them as contributing voices to our magazine.
Thanks to the advertisers and subscribers who supported this month’s issue, to our volunteer distribution team, and to all our readers. Please consider sharing your voice in our April celebration of National Poetry Month by contributing to our call for haiku and poetry.
Happy reading,
