The Colored Families, by E. Reid Gilbert

The White family and the Black family
Live quite amicably side by side
On the NO EXIT street of Bright Leaf Lane.
Louise Black is the best friend of Irene White.
The confusion occurs when you learn
That the Blacks are white and the Whites are black.
To be specific: Louise Black is white and Irene White is black.
The Grays live the next street over.
I believe the Greens moved away last fall.
The Browns have moved in where the Greens had lived.
The Blues stop by every once in a while.
We seem to see the Roses every summer.
It’s rumored the Greens will be moving back soon. The Peacocks strut by every Sunday morning.
