On the Cover

February 2020’s cover art, “Sleeping Fox,” is by Cynthia Quinn, a Wisconsin native who has worked as a graphic designer, art director, art instructor and exhibiting artist and has exhibited at the River Arts on Water Gallery in Prairie du Sac since its inception. Cynthia is the featured artist along with Lisa Binkley at River Arts on Water through March. Cynthia says: “I draw and paint, but in the last seven years have switched my creative work media to include textiles, hand stitching, dying fabric and beading. I am passionate about depicting images focused on the natural world. I observed the fox was sleeping in the snow when I moved to a new house in 2013 and was so thrilled to observe his peaceful slumber. I knew I had to make a piece about him.” Cynthia’s “Sleeping Fox” won best of show in the juried Wisconsin Museum of Quilts and Fiber Arts Biennale in 2017 in Cedarburg. Many thanks to Cynthia for her contribution to our cover! View more of Cynthia’s work on her website, cynthiaquinn.com, and at River Arts on Water, which is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday.
