This month’s cover art, “Sunrise Commute” (oil and gold leaf on panel) by Esther Hill was inspired by a late winter drive from Dodgeville to Madison. Esther says of her piece: “Each morning a unique lightshow above the frozen ground became the source of a series of works featuring automobiles in the frigid highway landscape. While winter can be a challenge, the clear light of sunrise makes color dance when we need to see it the most.” Esther is a self-employed artist who creates wearable art and fine oil paintings. She draws on inspiration from nature and the beautiful Driftless countryside. She lives in Dodgeville with her husband and their animals and in her spare time enjoys hiking, cycling and putzing around the house and garden. Many thanks to Esther for her contribution to this month’s magazine!
