My Garden in Fall, by Mark Kovelan

What was I thinking!
Last Spring when starting seeds
That those cute little rascals
Would outstrip my needs

Fending off rabbits and deer
Pulling weeds by the ton
Sprinkling and feeding
The work’s just begun

A tsunami of produce floods in at all once
More coming today!
Cukes, Zukes, Tomatoes and Kale
I can’t give them away

I’ll fill up my freezer and can some jars
Finding some space for all I can stash
Next winter when I look through my mail
Seductive seed catalogs will head for the trash
