Haiku by Michael Brandt

privileged romantics
cultivate melancholy
amplify ennui

actor as lover
heartfelt passion, maybe craft
a question always

thought drowned in sadness
reason bled of all purpose

moon in milky shroud
sun rising in hellish red
cry of burning trees

twinkling little star
unchanging overseer
wondering what we are

a new chapter unfolding
hope springs eternal

soul-baring poems
read by writers of poems
and others, perhaps
