Workshop: Introduction to Blacksmithing

September 10 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Learn the basics of blacksmithing, from starting and tending a coal-fired forge, to the different techniques and tools of the trade from instructor Greg Winz. The class will start with the skills needed to make a simple post hook. In the afternoon, students will get to choose to make one or more projects, like more complex wall hooks, cloak brooches, or a Mjolnir (Thor’s Hammer) pendant. Students may also choose to use this time to work on a project of their own. We will be working in mild steel.

Ages: 18 and older may participate unaccompanied. Ages 8-17 must be partnered with an also-registered adult (18 or older). Younger than 8 is negotiable, but generally not a good idea to be actively participating for a whole day.
