Workshop: Animal Sculpture with Jennifer Mally

Join Jennifer Mally for a two-day workshop exploring techniques to create ceramic animal sculptures. The first day we will explore how to make a realistic animal sculpture by building an armature and accurately forming an animal from its bone and muscle structure. The second day we will create a second sculpture of the same animal but will abstract its figure, alter its proportions and play with the essence of what makes that animal unique. High-fire stoneware clay will be provided for each participant, along with all tools and materials. Jennifer will offer demos, bring handouts and reference books. Please bring pictures or sketches of an animal you are interested in sculpting.

Workshop fee includes lodging at the Art Ventures Retreat Center or the Prairie Center, all meals and clay.
