“We Are Sauk Prairie” Lecture Series: “How the Kickapoo Valley Reserve Came to Be”

December 12, 2019 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

Join us for our monthly “We Are Sauk Prairie” lecture featuring Marcy West, the executive director of the Kickapoo Valley Reserve. Her talk is titled, “How the Kickapoo Valley Reserve Came to Be.”

The Kickapoo Valley Reserve in southwest Wisconsin is an 8,600-acre ecological gem. Its story of how it came to be and how it is currently managed by a citizens board on behalf of the state and Ho-Chunk Nation is as unique as the property itself. What can we learn from the experience of a federal project gone wrong and an important property protected? Turns out, quite a bit. There are some similarities between the Badger project and Kickapoo Reserve that will also be discussed.

As always, this event is free to the public and snacks will be provided. Come early for some conversation with neighbors!

Our “We Are Sauk Prairie” series is generously supported by a grant from Alliant Energy Foundation.
