“ReCollection” Art Exhibit
May 1, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
Have you seen photogravure or anthrotypes? How about drawings of historic mining shafts using heavy debossing techniques? Or an artist’s intrepretation of taxonomy, categorization and classification? Or how an artist is inspired by the forces and tensions of the Earth’s strata and the visual cues we see from the top. There is also an interpretation of a found lead remnant and the Rime of the Ancient Mariner.
Rountree Gallery in Platteville presents “ReCollection,” an exhibit of five artists curated by Mary Bergs of Benton. The artists take inspiration from the artifacts and rich history of The Mining & Rollo Jamison Museums in Platteville to create pieces for this unique art exhibition.
The artists include:
Alyssa Baguss, MN
Mary Bergs, Benton, WI
Heidi Dyas-McBeth, Platteville, WI
Bernice Ficek-Swenson, Minneapolis, MN
Bill Mitchell, Lancaster, WI
Exhibit opens April 29 through June 19, 2021, at the Rountree Gallery. The show is open every Thursday and Friday 4-7 p.m. and every Saturday 10 a.m.-2 p.m. A reception with the artists is 5-7 p.m. April 30.
Special thanks to The Mining & Rollo Jamison Museums in Platteville for temporary loan of non-accessioned items from the museums.
