Pendarvis Speaker Series: A Gathering of Peoples in the Lead Mine District

Hear Tracey Lee Roberts, senior lecturer emeritus at UW-Platteville, speak on the early Lead Mine District centered in southwestern Wisconsin that brought together an array of peoples to work the lucrative lead trade.

Worked mostly by Native American and métis people, by the 1820s to 1840s the district was booming and included black and white Americans and many foreign-born peoples who helped to transform Wisconsin from a territory to a state.
