3rd Annual Ice Lantern Festival

February 15, 2020 @ 2:00 pm - 10:00 pm

The third edition of the Mineral Point Ice Lantern Festival features several new additions that promise to increase the festival fun for the whole family.

Before the sun sets and the lanterns are lit, the Arts Mineral Point Member Art Show is open at 2-6 p.m. This fifth edition of the event features artworks from many of the area’s noted artists. This final day of the exhibit is a great reason to start the festival before night fall. The exhibit is at the historic Masonic Lodge, 306 High St.

The 200 block of High Street will be closed for the “ICE and SPICE” Chili Cook-off! Ten teams will offer their recipes for tasting. The teams will be competing for two taster’s choice prizes. The tasting is at 4-6 p.m. and costs $10/single, $25/family.

At 5 p.m. the candles are lit! Ice lanterns, sponsored by area businesses and individuals, will glow throughout the historic district. Stroll along High Street, Commerce Street and part of Fountain Street. Mineral Point High School students and fun-loving businesses, individuals and organizations create the lanterns. Lanterns are sponsored for $20 each, and are judged for creativity. This year, two additional categories have been added: Best Overall Display, Business or Individual and Best Overall Display, Organization.

Don’t worry about the cold! As the Chili Cook-off winds down, the Cupcake and Hot Chocolate ICE BAR opens from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on the 200 block of High Street. Still cold? Duck into one of the shops and galleries with expanded evening hours.

Feeling festive yet? From 8 to 10 p.m., visit the ICE BAR inside the Gray Dog Deli, 200 block of High Street, for libations around the fire.
