Undulating and verdant
rising out of the glaciated plain
interrupting the familiarity of the prairie
shadowing the fertile coulees
towering over the great river valley
Rural and wild
crowned by sandstone cliffs
carpeted by lush hardwood forest
drained by clear springs and streams
carved by rural by-ways.
Home and haven
refuge of the family farm
retreat and inspiration of artisans and dreamers
remnant of native lands
siren of childhood memories.
The bluffs of the driftless — calling me home, calling me home.
Tom Sieger and his wife, Myrt, grew up in the La Crosse area — hence their love of the Driftless Area. They presently are retired and living in Madison. Three years ago they bought a small cabin on 12 acres near Rockbridge and are enjoying trying to restore prairie — while quenching a desire to spend more time in the Driftless and are very much enjoying the environs of their new neighborhood.
