With all the great singers in the River Valley and beyond, a process is underfoot to create an on-going community chorus with the mission of providing both singers and audiences an outlet to sing and enjoy the rich abundance of choral music, both old and new.
The initial project will involve rehearsing weekly from mid-June through the summer for a concert to be performed in mid-September. At least 50 individuals — many who enjoyed singing in the Taliesin Community Chorus under the direction of Effi Casey — have voiced interest so far, but the invitation is extended to the greater community. The hope is for this to be a multi-generational chorus; all singers from high-school age and up are welcome.
The first rehearsal is scheduled for 7 p.m. June 14 at Christ Lutheran Church, 330 Albany St., in Spring Green. There will be a $10 registration fee to cover expenses for the first concert.
If you are interested in participating or have additional questions, contact Mike Smith at mike@pleasanthillprairie.com by June 7. This will allow time to plan for the number of singers and the amount of music that will be needed.
